Abstract:
To better understand job crafting in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment, this study developed and tested a 27-item measure, the Integrated Dynamic Job Crafting Agility Measurement Scale (IDJCA-MS). The study presents a new scale that integrates job crafting with the continuous, responsive aspect of agility, while also incorporating individual characteristics, contextual resources, and environmental demands. A rigorous, multi-stage technique based on literature construct integration and a quantitative approach is employed to develop the IDJCA-MS. The author establishes reliability and psychometric properties, analyses discriminant, convergent, and predictive validity of IDJCA-MS. The study used proactive motivation, dynamic capabilities, contextual resources, and environmental turbulence to develop a new job-crafting agility scale that predicted job performance in a volatile, unpredictable, complex, and ambiguous environment. This paper makes a novel contribution by proposing IDJCA-MS, a multidimensional job crafting agility scale.
